Santa Monica Brew Works brews up the “Mayfaire Podium Series” to Celebrate 50 Years of Homebrewing Excellence
This July, Santa Monica Brew Works released not just one, but all three Best of Show Beers from our 2024 Mayfaire Competition - dubbed "The Podium Series".
The Mayfaire Podium Series features the following outstanding beers that earned top honors:
- Best in Show: “The Bird” Rauchbier by Trevor McGuire – A masterfully crafted smoked-malt beer celebrated for its rich, roasty flavor and complexity.
- 2nd Place: “Halfcolt” American Pale Ale by Jack McQueen – A perfectly balanced pale ale with refreshing hop character highlighted by a blend of Simcoe and Amarillo.
- 3rd Place: “Ikasu” Matcha-infused Gose by Masahiro Katano – A distinctive gose brewed with Matcha, offering a unique blend of tangy sour notes and earthy green tea essence.
In April, Santa Monica Brew Works hosted our annual Mayfaire competition, which showcased 393 entries from some of the country’s most talented homebrewers brewers. With 156 participants, judges, and stewards, Mayfaire continues to exemplify the quality, creativity, and passion of the homebrewing community.
